Jorge Vera
Jorge Vera is a photographer-visual artist born in Lima, Peru, who has lived and worked in the United States sine 1979.
He works in digital and traditional analog photography, alternative chemical-silver, and non-silver processes, and uses mutiple image making techniques such as; photo-montage, 3-D objetcs, light boxes, and collages.
Vera's photography career spans three decades and two continents.
In the United States he studies film making, animation, video production and photography at Webster University (1983-1987), and history of art, graphic design and alternative historic photographic processes such as; cyanotype, browntype, tintype, gum-bichromate and silk-screen at, Meramec College (1989-1992) in St. Louis, Missouri.
His current series, "urbanismo" (2008-2010), echoes early work from his first solo show in St. Louis, "Seldom Seen" (1989), which explores iconic images of the Midwest, where he lived from 1983 to 1992. In this period Vera starts capturing images of mostly empty suburbia and urban spaces and landscapes. Work that reflects his experience of isolation and alienation as a young self-exiled immigrant in the United States.
Vera's solo show "urbanismo" opened August 27, 2010 in the May Gallery at Webster University.

Jorge Vera es un fotógrafo-arista visual
nacido en Lima, Perú, quien vive en los Estados Unidos desde 1979.
Vera trabaja en fotografia digital y analoga tradicional, procesos fotograficos alternativos de plata, y sales, y con multiples tecnicas para crear imagenes como; foto-montajes, objetos en 3-D, cajas de luz, y collages.
La carrera fotografíca de Vera abarca tres décadas y dos continentes.
En los Estados Unidos estudia cine, animación, video-produción, y fotografía en Webster University, y historia de arte y la fotografia, diseño grafico y procesos fotograficos alternativos como; cyanotipo, browntype, tintype, bichromato de goma, y silk-screen en Meramec College, en St. Louis, Missouri.
Su reciente serie, "Urbanismo" (2008-2010) continua su propuesta inciada con la serie "Seldom Seen", (Poco-Visto, 1989) de imagenes iconicas del Midwest Americano donde reside del 1983 a 1992.
En este periodo Vera empieza a registrar imagenes de paisajes y espacios urbanos y sub-urbanos prominentemente vacios. Obra que refleja su experiencia de alienacion y aislamiento de su auto-exilio en los Estados Unidos.
Vera exhibe por primera vez la serie "urbanismo" el 27 de Agosto del 2010 en el May Gallery de Webster University.
